Seen others with this symptom but no insight into the correct fix. My turned out to be a failed Rotor/Stator bolt. When I removed the back cover, there was the slightest wiggle in the Rotor (beige plastic disc over the Stator). Thought it was loose but when I went to tighten the bolt, the head came off with no effort. Now the bolt was sheared off in the drum/bearing. I secured a removal tool and was able to get the old bolt out. Ordered and installed the new bolt and the sound magically disappeared. Apparently at the end of a spin cycle, there is quit a bit of current between the rotor and stator and if the rotor is loose, the magnetic current will cause the two to touch and hence the braking sound. Cant believe this little part was the fix but it was!
