The problem seemed to be the idler pulley. I installed the dryer repair repair kit model AP3109602. It contains ALL the support rollers, an idler pulley and belt. The belt was about 2 inches too short so I reused the original belt that appeared to be good. While I had the machines apart I also replaced the Drum felt since one had a tear on one machine and another completely fell off the drum when I removed the drum from the machine. The Machines are Maytag Model number MGDB800VU0. The first machine took about 2 hours because I fought with it trying to get the new belt to fit. I gave up on the new belt and was easily able to fit the original belt on and complete the repair. The new belt appears to be thinner than the original and about 2 inches shorter.
