After talking to April from ApplianacePartsPros.com(who was very helpful) and reading all the other posts with similar issues. I learned that the temp control switch also contained the water level sensor, When I took the control panel off the first time I didn't see anything wrong, made sure the level tube was clear, After snapping the control panel back in place I did a load of wash, the washer acted differently but still not right, it was then that I realized that after I had done an overloaded load of wash was when the unit stopped working right, I thought that maybe the level sensor saw pressures it hadn't seen and got stuck in the wrong rest position, and when I banged the control panel around it made go back to almost the right rest position. So I bought the temperature/ load level switch and it fixed the machine. just a note some of the posts mentioned changing two parts at the same time, that's not a wise move, In my case the level sensor and the washer was responding to the wrong inputs
