To fix the problem I determined it was the timer at fault and not any other component (i.e. lid switch, belt, etc.). I tested the other wash cycles and the delicate cycle worked fine but all others were non-operational. I ordered the timer from appliancepartspro.com, it arrived in a couple days, and I took off the back panel to remove the defective part then replaced it with the new one. The washing machine is back to working order and I saved at least $500.00.
