In a 10 year old LG front load washer, started a cycle and did not hear the water rushing into the soap dispenser as usual, just heard intermittent humming noise. Checked on appliance parts pro, and suspected the water inlet valve(s). I did the "vending machine trick" - tipped up the front of the washer an inch and dropped it twice - viola - water started entering the machine again. The valve was sticking shut. At that point, I ordered and replaced both water inlet valves after watching the video on APP. It took longer to clean the floor from where I pulled out the washer, than it did to replace both inlets (about 20 minutes). First repair to the machine in 10 years - cannot complain. I do about 1 load of laundry a month - the Mrs does all the rest for a family of five - how ironic that it acts up when I'm doing my single monthly wash adventure (shop towels) ? I guess it soldiered on until it knew it was in the presence of someone mechanically inclined. Easy repair.
