I was out on a social evening with my friends when I got a text saying "the dishwasher is leaking." I immediately concluded that the gaskets were likely worn or damaged, I ordered a full set of them and, with much swearing and the appropriate blood sacrifice, I replaced them. However, upon testing it appeared that the leak was not resolved.
However, this time it occurred to me that I could remove the dishwasher from under the counter and observe the leak directly, which lead me to see that the outlet hose from the diverter valve assembly had been damaged somehow and that the whole assembly would have to be replaced.
My recent experience in replacing the gaskets made the disassembly and reassembly process easier than it had been the first time and it actually went fairly smoothly. And, since I knew what the actual problem was this time, the floor underneath the dishwasher has remained dry ever since.
