I tried using 1/4" tubing, with compression fittings, and the threaded ends from the defective tubing. It kept leaking around the comp. fittings. I ordered the replacement part, and installed it in about 5 mins. (It took longer to go down stairs and turn off the water supply, and pull out the fridge, than it did to replace the part).
