I checked with AppliancePartsPro once again for help on their website. I narrowed down the possible root cause to a leak coming from the diverted motor seal or a defect in the sump assembly near center of the bottom of the washer.
I watched the AppliancePartsPro video on how to replace the sump; what a huge help in understanding the scope of the work involved and if any special tools were needed. No special tools needed and the work was pretty easy for anyone who is handy, comfortable with working with plumbing and electrical connections (in my case, I discovered my hot water shut off valve under the sink is in need of repair too !).
I called ApplancePartsPro . She was very helpful and located the sump part I needed. I ordered the sump assembly and one worm drive clamp. NOTE the 90 degree drain pump hose piece has single use clamps on each end. I suggest ordering 2 clamps and replace each of the single use clamps.
I replaced the sump has instructed in the video and the leak was remedied !
