First I thought it was the defrost timer (talking to a friend). Replaced as $30+ dollar part and cheaper than a service call. Unfortunately, that did not help. Did some google searches and came across ApplicancePartsPros.com. They had a ton of useful information from chat availability to videos. Through the chat, we determined most likely it was the thermostat.
I ordered it with expedited shipping and it shipped the same day and arrived earlier than expected. However, the part looked different (terminal layout side horizontal not vertical). Turns out a newer part number, but fits fine. Was unsure of the wiring with the different terminal layout. so I called ApplicancePartsPros.com and my call was answered in a reasonable (short wait in queue). Emailed pics of what I had. Was put on hold and the rep came back and advised in this instance that it was not polarity sensitive and didn't matter. The rep said if it turned out not to be the case, that they would send a warranty replacement (cool right?!?) So I put the red more towards the from (slider). Followed the video which was super helpful step by step and before I knew it I was done. The soap and water trick to get the copper wire back in the plastic hose was super helpful.
I plugged it back in and after a few minutes, it came back to life on its own and has been running ever since (days now). I saved a lot of money with this DIY repair. I could have ordered elsewhere( AP6007252 or WP2315562) after all the guidance and troubleshooting they gave and saved a few bucks, but they deserved my business for their efforts with troubleshooting, their professionalism, and overall assistance. We need to support companies like these that are innovative and helpful as we want them to stay around.
