My Whirlpool washing machine (model # WTW4800XQ2) was banging and shaking during the rinse cycle similar to a severe unbalanced load. It started happening after about 2 years and got worse with each use. The washer shook so hard that the plastic tub rim broke into pieces. After reading several other reviewers’ experiences with similar symptoms, I decided to replace the 4 suspension rods/spring assemblies. When I removed the old rods/springs they appeared to be OK, but the spring compression strength seemed to be a bit weaker. There are several videos on-line how to replace them. It's not that difficult. Basic steps are: Disconnect water supply hose and pump hose. Tip washer on it's front side and remove the 2 opposite corner rods from the bottom, replace with new rods. Then tip washer up, release the washer top, and connect rod hooks through mounting caps. One helpful tip i found was to use one of the old rods to pull the new rod through the cap hole. Repeat this for the 2 remaining rods. The washer is quite and runs like it did when it was new!
