The splutch turned out to not be the problem but it was easy to install. The only problem that I have is that the 13 mm nut keeps coming loose. I have added some loctite and I hope that fixes it. It could be something that I am doing wrong, but other than tightening it up, I can't imagine what I am doing wrong.
The ultimate fix for my problem was the washer basket hub kit.
I was pleased with the price and the quality seemed identical to the original parts.
Replacing the belt was a bit of a struggle because a new belt is very tight.
