This temperature-sensing safety switch monitors heat inside the microwave and opens or closes its circuit at a set point. Replacing a failed thermostat helps protect the unit from overheating and restores proper fan or heating control. What it does:

  • Monitors surface temperature where it is mounted (cavity, duct, or component)
  • Opens/closes its electrical circuit at a specific threshold to prevent overheating
  • Can interrupt power to heating components or signal the exhaust fan, depending on design
  • Symptoms can include: unit shuts off until it cools, runs but won't heat, exhaust fan won't auto-cycle or runs constantly
What's included: 1 thermostat Install notes:
  • Unplug the microwave; if over-the-range, remove it safely from the cabinet
  • Discharge the high-voltage capacitor before servicing
  • Note wire positions and transfer one lead at a time; ensure tight connections
  • Mount firmly and flush to the original location/bracket for proper thermal contact
