Julio M Tucson , AZ February 13, 2017 Igniter replacement and overall maintenenance Second repair after 10 years of service - igniter had cracked and spill overs were causing the others to misfire. This was a two-step process. I took apart the cooktop to see what parts were neded. Screws were all rusted, I had to drill ome out. The burner gaskets broke during the process and needed replacement. One of the burners had deformed due to excess heat. After that initial diagnose, I reassembled the cooktop without the igniters and ordered all the parts I needed. The second stage was easy since I had already learned which parts needed replacement and how. work finished with a good cleanup of th glass plate. Blake V Midland , TX December 02, 2017 Flames shot out of one of the appliance knobs. Immediately unplugged the gas range, turned off the gas, removed the range and disassembled it. Obviously the harness that controls the gas was damaged so I did a Buick google search and found all of the parts I would need on here. Placed the order and fixed my range 2 days later. Ziaur R Sugar Land , TX September 19, 2014 Only one burner was lighting automatically I did not have to replace the gaskets, but I did replace them. The spark igniter can be pulled out easily by pulling it straight up. You might need to twist it gently with a pair if nose pliers. In my case the wire connector to the igniter had corroded. I had similar connectors in my electronic tool bag. You will need heat shrink tubing, 3/16" diameter, available at Frys or Radio Shack. I cut off the corroded connector, removed about 1/4" insulation of the wire and crimped the exposed wire very carefully into the new connector. I cut about 1" of heat shrink tubing, slid it over the new connector and carefully heated it with a cigarette lighter. Unfortunately, the 1" piece was found to be too short as the spark was leaking. To solve this problem, I cut an inch and a half piece of the heat shrink tubing and shrunk it on top of the 1" one and guess what .... no spark leakage!!! Repeated that for the other three igniters, reassembled everything. I have a strong spark on all four burners now, no need for the match box.... Happy wife......... and me too. No more nagging. LOL I used new burner screws, stainless steel available at Lowes, take one old one as a sample. Happy cooking! Zia Read More...
