Oven won't heat or igniter not glowing? This range igniter assembly ignites the gas burner to heat your oven. DIY repair typically takes 30 minutes.
After 5 igniter replacements, I've gotten pretty good at this. Less than 30 minutes start to finish -- including mopping under the range, etc. You need one hex driver for the whole job -- 3/8" I believe. 1. Remove all of the racks and the oven door. Remove the bottom panel inside the oven. Now unscrew the flame cover (4 hex screws), remove, and unscrew the old igniter (2 hex screws). 2. Pull the oven away from the wall. Be careful not to kink the gas line. Unplug the range. Remove... Read more
The Interlock Switch is an OEM replacement part for GE electric and gas dryers. This safety component monitors the door closure, preventing operation if the door is not securely closed and latched. The switch measures 2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide.
Symptoms of a faulty interlock switch include:
Causes relate to the internal component contacting the door frame over 50,000 open/close cycles potentially exposing wiring to wear. Regular cleaning the external switch area prevents dust or lint buildup skewing performance.
This genuine GE switch is compatible with Hotpoint and RCA dryers as well.
Note: Can be used as a dishwasher door switch on specific models. Check your model number for the most accurate results.
The full story: Dishwasher stopped running mid-cycle. When I first began troubleshooting I tried manually advancing the timer knob, and the machine would run. That led me to believe that the actual timer assembly was bad, so I replaced it. The dishwasher ran fine for a day, and then the same problem came back. This time, however, I also had to push in on the door to get it to run. I looked around online, and someone suggested that the door latch wasn't closing tightly enough. I adjusted the... Read more

Dryer won't start when you press the button? This rotary start switch activates your dryer cycle. Simple DIY fix in minutes with basic tools.
Looked at the diagnostic help on Appliance Parts Pros.com and the start switch was the problem, but only 25% of the time, so I was a little concerned it may be a different problem. The switch was reasonably priced, so I ordered it and it arrived in two days! It was very easy to follow the repair video, however, my GE Gas dryer had a lot of screws rather than 2 screws and tabs on the model in the video, so it took a little more time to open up. After turning off the gas and unplugging the... Read more

The Inlet Control Thermistor is an OEM part for GE dryers. It monitors and regulates the temperature of the incoming air to ensure optimal drying performance. This thermistor sends temperature readings to the dryer's control board, which adjusts the heating element accordingly to maintain the desired temperature throughout the drying cycle.
You should replace this inlet control thermistor if it becomes faulty or fails to provide accurate temperature readings. Common causes of a bad thermistor include electrical failures, damage from overheating, or wear and tear from regular use.
Symptoms of a bad inlet control thermistor include:
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
Replaced the inlet control thermis (thermostat) . Now it completes the cycle but clothes are not 100 % dry. I would add 15 minutes more and that helps. FYI: you don't need to remove the drum, just remove the top cover and that will give you enough space to replace the sensor Thank you Appliance Parts for your fast speed of delivery. Read more
The Bake Element is an OEM part for GE wall ovens and ranges. It generates the necessary heat through a series of exposed coils to bake and brown food consistently. Symptoms of a failed bake element include:
Causes may be normal wear of the coil material over many use cycles in high heat. Without a functioning bake element, the oven cannot reliably or safely perform its baking function. This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.
Replaced element. The new element was perfect. The shipping was perfect. Installation would have taken less than 10 minutes if the two range wires attaching to element had been 1 inch longer. Attached thin nosed vice grips to wires at spade terminals to facilitate attachment to element. The repair was simple enough but it would have been perfect if GE engineers had made wires 1 inch longer. Read more

Refrigerator making rattling or squealing noise? A failing condenser fan motor is often the cause. DIY-friendly repair takes about 30 minutes.
My refrigerator's cooling fan was making a noise. It wasn't loud; in fact, it was barely discernible. However, it was just loud enough to annoy me. The fan blade was hitting the shroud every now and then, creating a subtle, yet annoying sound. I'd tried tightening all the screws back there, and it helped-for a while. The noise came back. After looking at the fan motor, I noticed the bushings; it occurred to me that they might be the culprit. And why not? They were the originals installed at the... Read more
