This capacitor is a genuine OEM replacement part sourced directly from the manufacturer for use on generators. It regulates voltage and send volts to the rotor. If the generator has a lower than normal voltage reading or the generator's output is up and down, causing the output of power to surge and decrease, the capacitor should be removed and replaced. Use a voltage meter to check the capacitor to determine how much of a charge it is carrying.The capacitor needs to be discharged before it is removed and replaced to prevent electric shock. Always wear safety gloves when working on equipment. Disconnect the generator from all power sources and disconnect anything that is drawing power from the generator. Use a brand new insulated screwdriver to discharge the capacitor. Hold the capacitor in one hand and touch the screwdriver against both tips at the same time. The electricity will discharge. After the capacitor is discharged, unplug it from the generator. Install the new capacitor and make the necessary wire connections.
