This E ring is a small metal retaining clip that secures shafts, pulleys, and other rotating parts to prevent axial movement. It restores correct part positioning so assemblies run smoothly and stay aligned. What it does:
- Acts as a snap/retaining ring to hold components on a shaft or in a groove
- Prevents pulleys, bearings, or spacers from sliding out of place
- Common symptom: loose or shifting pulley, increased wobble, noise, or component disengagement
- Small, inexpensive part whose failure can allow adjacent parts to migrate and cause additional damage
What's included: One E ring Install notes:
- Disconnect power to the appliance before beginning any repair
- Use snap-ring pliers or needle-nose pliers and wear eye protection when installing or removing
- Ensure clip seats fully in the shaft groove and that mating surfaces are clean and undamaged

The Direct Drive Washer Motor is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines This motor drives the agitation, spinning, and draining processes during the laundry cycles, ensuring clothes come out clean and well spun.
Causes of a bad Direct Drive Washer Motor can range from wear and tear over time, overheating due to overloading or obstructed movement, and electrical failures like short circuits or blown capacitors.
Symptoms of a failing Direct Drive Washer Motor include:
- The washing machine not agitating or spinning correctly
- A noticeable decline in the washer's performance
- Unusual noises, such as humming or buzzing, indicating the motor is struggling
This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Washer would fill but then would not agitate or spin there was a burning rubber smell Karen G. • Katonah , NY • November 28, 2014
All's well that ends well, but the getting there was a bit of a pain. The web site suggests 3 possible causes for my problem (incl. the burning smell). I began with the first two since they were inexpensive compared to the motor, which was the third cause (and also the least often cause). There is no way to visibly tell if the motor is bad or not.
After replacing the clutch assembly, which did have some plastic pins broken off) and the motor coupling (which actually looked fine, but the...

This balance ring mounts on the top of the washer's spin basket. Its sealed, liquid-filled chamber shifts weight to counterbalance uneven loads so the tub spins smoothly, reducing vibration, noise, and stress on other components. What it does:
- Uses internal fluid to counterbalance heavy or uneven loads during spin
- Helps minimize vibration, shaking, and thumping noises
- Reduces washer movement or "walking" during spin
- Common failure symptoms: excessive vibration/noise, frequent out-of-balance loads, or visible cracks/leaks at the ring
What's included:
Install notes:
- Disconnect power and water; wear gloves and use proper safety precautions
- Access the ring by removing the cabinet/top and inner basket (procedure varies by model)
- Remove the old ring; seat the new ring evenly on the basket rim—do not puncture the sealed chamber
- Reassemble, level the washer, and run a test spin to ensure smooth operation

Violent shaking during spin cycle David J. • Birmingham , AL • February 06, 2015
I found that the balance ring had popped loose from the top of the inner metal tub and had been scored so that the fluid was leaking out. So, I removed the metal shell of the washer, then the top plastic cover over the outer tub. I pulled out the old part and put on the new one. I had to give it a pretty good push downward to engage the clips and get it fully seated. I ran my hand along the inside of the metal tub to feel that the new balance ring was fully seated. I also used a short level to...
