The Agitator Bolt is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This bolt secures the agitator in the center of the wash basket, ensuring it remains firmly in place during the wash and spin cycles.
Causes of a bad agitator bolt can include regular wear and tear, corrosion due to exposure to water and detergents, or being loosened or damaged by heavy loads or improper handling during maintenance.
Symptoms of a bad agitator bolt include:
- The agitator wobbling or coming loose during cycles
- Unusual noises coming from the washer during agitation
- The agitator not turning properly, resulting in poor cleaning performance
- The bolt showing visible signs of rust or damage
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Noise and grinding Dennis N. • Weiser , ID • July 19, 2015
Replaced water pump and at the same time I replaced the re-circ pump. I want to comment on the help I received from Appliance Parts Pros. Web pages are easy to navigate and shipping was exceptional (received my parts in two days). In the past I have ordered from Sears Parts Direct and have been up to two weeks before I got my parts. Also, want to mention the video option on how to actually change the parts, very helpful and informative. Will order all of my parts from you from now on.

After hunting the web for info on causes for this problem and finding only vague information, I found Appliance Pros website. By this time, i had narrowed the problem to either the drive hub or the Control board, which is about $150 difference in cost between the two!!
I used the site's info on how to run the automatic diagnostics test. This gave me a C8 failure (drum wouldn't spin). I followed the directions for the manual motor tests and everything passed. I then went through the parts list...

Change out the Rotor Position Sensor (RPS). There is an excellent internet video showing step by step how to remove and replace the RPS. It makes the job much easier. I believe that the new RPS solves most of the problem.
