I quickly determined from Googling around that F01 on the Whirlpool dryer was an indication that the controller board was having some issues. There are some videos out there on YouTube that show how to do this. Even if the dryer isn't the exact same model is yours, I found the videos to be helpful.

Being that our model was no longer manufactured I was very happy to find the toe panel readily available from Appliance Parts Pros.
It was shipped to me in just a few days and it was very easy to remove (2 screws) and replace the dryers bottom panel.
The dryer needed to be tilted back and supported to do the job but if your dryer has the raised base it may be easier to remove the toe panel.
A very easy repair and our dryer is good as new without spending a fortune for a service call.

Isolated door switch and tested switch through harness wires. Continuity found with both switch depressed and pressed on same wires.
Ordered switch Wednesday night and it arrived the following Tuesday to east coast home.
