The Protector Cap is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. It is designed to shield and protect specific components within the refrigerator, such as the temperature sensor or wiring connections. This cap helps to ensure that these critical parts remain intact and functional, contributing to the overall efficiency and performance of the appliance.
A compromised protector cap can expose sensitive components to potential damage, leading to malfunctions and decreased refrigerator efficiency.
Symptoms of a bad protector cap include:
- Visible cracks or damage to the cap
- Loose or missing cap
- Exposed or damaged wiring or sensors
This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

I wanted to replace the half shelf in my top freezer compartment with a full length shelf Marilynn B. • Lansing , MI • December 25, 2014
It was really easy. I found the part number using an online search, ordered the shelf and just inserted the ends into the holes in the freezer walls. Fortunately, I read on a question and answer forum that four end caps were also required. This detail was not listed in the shelf description so knowing this, I was able to order the caps along with the shelf and avoid having to place a second order once I got the shelf and discovered that I needed the end caps.
