When the burner is ignited, the holes in the burner head produce the flame that is used for cooking. Over time, food spills and normal corrosion may cause the holes in the burner head to become clogged or damaged. If this occurs, food will not cook evenly, or the burner may not ignite. The burner head should be removed and replaced. Turn the gas and power off to the stove. Remove the burner grate and burner cap and set them aside. Lift the burner head off the stove and dispose of it. Place the new burner head over the burner base and make sure the pin goes inside it. Seat the burner head level over the hole and make sure it is level. Place the burner cap and grate back on the stove.
