The Carbon brush, drum motor is an OEM part for Bosch washing machines. These carbon brushes are responsible for transferring electrical current from the commutator on the motor to power the rotary movement inside the washing machine drum.  Two come per package.

Symptoms of a bad carbon brush, or drum motor can include:

  • noisy or squealing sounds coming from the motor during the operation
  • the drum fails to spin or spin inconsistently
  • the washer is unable to enter spin cycles
  • slow or reduced agitation

Causes of a bad part include normal wear and tear over extended use. As the brushes continuously contact the commutator, friction can cause them to wear down over time.

This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore models.

Hello Rudy. You can remove the brushes from the motor and see if they are bad or broken on the unit and causing the issues. If not, it may be the board or the motor on the unit.

Nancy M. for Model Number Bosch washer model WFL2060

Our washer has stopped working. It seems to fill ok, but will not spin. The drum rotates freely if you turn it from inside, so it hasn't seized. I saw a utube video on 'carbon brushes' and how they wear out often before the motor. They seem easy to replace, but can't know if this will fix our problem. I have ordered them, to ship on Wed., after the holiday, but would like your opinion as to whether this is a likely fix. I was going to replace the belt, at the same time, due to its' age. Your opinion, please. Thank you! Nancy

Hello Nancy, The big question is, will the unit agitate? If it will agitate, the brushes are not the issue, since the same brushes are used during agitation. Most of these that I have serviced that will not spin have had the spin speed sensor drop out of place and is hanging by the wire from the back of the tub. This sensor fits into a slot in the back of the outer tub. It isn't hard to find since the sensor wire will be the correct length for the sensor to fit back into position. I normally use barely a drip of silicone on the sensors' back end after re-installation to prevent a repeat of the issue, Do not use so much that if the sensor will not easily come back out!

Hello Peter! Unfortunatelty, the manufacturer does not supply the carbon brushes separate from the drum motor for your unit. The motor is part number 00666422. Sorry about that!
