This door latch and strike plate secure the door closed and engage the safety interlock so the appliance can start and run reliably. Replacing a worn latch restores consistent door closure and prevents nuisance cycle interruptions.

  • Locks the door by engaging the strike, keeping it closed during operation
  • Ensures the door-closed interlock/microswitch is actuated so cycles can start
  • Helps prevent the door from popping open mid-cycle
  • Common symptoms: door won't latch or stay closed, unit won't start, cycle stops when the door is jostled
What's included: Door latch mechanism and strike plate
  • Disconnect power before servicing
  • Open the door and remove the inner-panel screws to access the latch area
  • Remove the old latch/strike; align and install the new components
  • If your model uses a separate microswitch, transfer/reuse it as required and test door engagement before reassembly

John, You will want to check the levelness of the unit which could cause the door latch to not catch the strike properly. Also if the strike can be adjusted then it may need a slight adjustment.

Miles, You will want to check the door switches to make sure that they are good. The switches should have continuity when pushed. If the door switches checks ok then test the control module to make sure that there is 120 vac getting to the board when the latch is pushed in. If there is 120 vac then the control module would be the issue.

Hello Phil, You will need to pull the dishwasher out a few inches to access the strike so it can be replaced. It actually clips in with the small knotch on the strike. You sometimes have to carefully bend the frame to get the old one out but try not to bend it in a manner that it cannot be bent back so the new one can stay in position.
