The Lower Door Seal is an OEM replacement part for Bosch dishwashers. It provides a critical sealing surface along the bottom perimeter of the dishwasher door. Through a rubber seal, it shields the interior from external moisture and debris infiltration.

Causes of a faulty lower door seal include dry rotted or cracked rubber compromising the seal over many years of use. Food debris or mineral buildup along the seal interface can also inhibit proper closure.

Symptoms of a bad lower door seal include:

  • Puddling, leaks, or excessive moisture inside the dishwasher
  • Poor drying results from inadequate containment of wash chamber humidity
  • Errors related to blocked moisture sensors detecting intrusion
  • Inability to close or latch the dishwasher door completely

This lower door seal replacement is also compatible with some Thermador, Gaggenau, and Kenmore dishwashers using the same door seal profile.

For Bosch Lower Door Seal (Part Number: OEM8407023)

Cary Huston for Model Number SHU9915 UC/12

Bought and replaced the Lower Door Seal on my Bosch. It's still leaking. I removed the front panel and I can see where the water w/soap suds is exiting the dish washer on the sides of the Lower Door Seal. The Lower Door Seal slowly fills until it overflows. It's not a lot but enough to be a problem (probably 2 cups over the entire wash cycle. Before my purchase I confirmed on Chat the p/n. Bosch Model: SHU9915UC/U12 FD8011. P/N: AP3802338/00298534. It was different from the original part I removed...which had more metal and the depth of the rubber was greater, but the replacement part seemed to fit well. The video was a great help. Any ideas for potential solutions? Thanks.

Cary, Unless the dishwasher is filling too much during the wash cycle, this would most likely be an issue with the door seal or maybe the lower door seal being faulty. It would be recommended to check the water fill on the unit as this would be most likely based on the information.

Ash, If the rubber at the bottom of the door is getting sticky and leaves a residue then you would want to replace the lower door seal.
