This replacement OEM part is a door seal for refrigerators. The door seal, sometimes called the door gasket, is the rubber piece that fits around the interior door of the refrigerator, creating a seal that prevents warm air from entering the refrigerator. If the seal becomes cracked or is no longer able to tightly secure the door, it might be time to replace it. Luckily, replacing the seal is a very easy fix.To replace the seal, begin by opening the refrigerator door. Locate the part of the seal that is least secure, and begin to pull it out from its groove. Pull firmly from one corner to the other until the entire seal has been removed. After removal, proceed to place the new seal into its proper position by pushing it down into the groove of the refrigerator door that attaches it. Start from one corner until the seal completely covers the perimeter of the door. Once secured, close the refrigerator door. This genuine replacement part is sold individually and is compatible with Bosch, Gaggenau, and Thermador refrigerators.

Questions & Answers

For Bosch Door Seal (Part Number: OEM17419347)

George, the door gasket would need to be inspected for any tears or sections that can not be corrected when using a hair dryer 8" from the gasket and moving the air back and forth across the section. If there is a tear or it will not correct itself when using a hair dryer, the gasket would likely need to be replaced.

Joe, a hair dryer can be held 8" from the gasket and moved back and forth around the entire area to get the gasket malleable. Once it is malleable, it can be installed onto the door and inspected for any gaps. If there are any gaps, the hair dryer would need to be used in the general area of the gap to allow it to seal in place. The door would then need to remain closed for a minimum of two hours, the longer it stays closed the better for a maximum time of 8 hours.
