The Blower Wheel is an OEM part for Frigidaire clothes dryers. This component works to propel hot air through clothes during drying cycles.

Causes of a bad blower wheel involve wear from years of operation, such as bearing deterioration or plastic fan blade cracking/warping. Foreign object damage or improper cleaning techniques pose other risk factors.

Symptoms of a bad blower wheel include:

  • Slow or weak drying even on high heat settings
  • Loud clanking or grinding noises from inside the duct
  • The dryer not activating or functioning when turned on
  • Reduced air discharge observable at the vent

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

Joe, It does not appear that the drum would have to be removed in order to get the blower wheel off but would be easier to do so.

Mrs Kramden, It is not likely going to be an issue with the blower but will be an issue with the venting. You will want to check the venting from the blower housing all the way to the outside of the home.

Hello Alan. You will need to remove the 2 screws from the top of the bottom access panel on the front. Then remove the lint filter and the screws holding the air duct in place. Make sure the power is disconnected before you do this repair on the unit.

How often should the blower wheel be replaced? When the dyer is started, a wobble-knocking sound comes from the platic blower wheel housing. Could the blower wheel be slipping on the motor shaft? I removed the clamp and blower wheel, and cleaned off the lint (to balance the wheel), and it still knocks. Do you have any suggestions? Might the pressure fitting loose it's pressure? BTW: I replaced the front felt glide (AP2150497) and belt (AP4565702), and the drum sounds great.

Hello Buba. It sounds like the wheel is slipping, and you will need to replace it. Hope this helps.
