Harry November 28, 2021 for Model Number FFTR1814QW0 Hello, Water drops are constantly leaking from the control panel assembly . I want to open it up and cleanup the clogging for defrost drain . Part # 5304507171 is with a single screw . Can you please tell what type of screw driver is needed to open the screw? Thanks for your help in advance.
1 Answer Harry, Based on the model number it would likely be a 1/4" nut driver if someone has not changed them. Read More...
Nick April 22, 2021 for Model Number FFTR1814QW3 Freezer is building up ice and fridge is not cooling. Someone told me that I need to replace the main control board and the temperature thermostat. Sure that this is problem? Is the temperature thermostat a separate part or is it with the control board? This refrigerator has one thermostat inside the freezer and other at the fridge. Which one should be replaced? Thanks
1 Answer Nick, You will want to test the defrost thermostat 5303918638 for continuity and test the defrost heater for a resistance of between 11 and 25 ohms. The thermostat should read continuity with it being below 15 degrees. If both are good then the control box 5304507171 would need to be replaced. Read More...
John April 03, 2021 for Model Number FFTR1821QW1 Water is dripping out of the back of the Control Box.
1 Answer Hello John, This is most likely caused by a stopped up defrost drain. You will need to remove the control box and heat the drain with a clothes steamer. If you don't have a clothes steamer you can use a hairdryer if you do not use it on a setting higher than medium, to prevent damage to the refrigerator liner. This will take about twice as long but it will work. Read More...
Peter January 27, 2021 for Model Number FFTR1814QW1 Need to remove the Control Box assembly (part # 5304498355). How to do this? Parts diagram looks like their is only the one screw. Please advise steps. Thanks
1 Answer Peter, with the refrigerator power cord unplugged, there will be an indention on the bottom of the control housing that will have a 1/4" hex head screw inside. This screw will need to be removed so that the front can move down to allow the wire harness to disconnect from the top of the refrigerator section. This will allow the control panel to be moved forward. Read More...
Brian August 18, 2020 for Model Number 25360504410 What is the difference between part # 5303918673 and part # 5304507171? Both indicate they work with my model refrigerator. The product descriptions seem similar. If possible, please state what distinguishes one item from the other, or what makes one preferable. Thank you.
1 Answer Brian, We can't tell from the photos and there's no info on either board so possibly the thermistor used or the control board that is in the assembly. We can only recommend that you use the part that the manufacturer suggests for proper function. Read More...
Randal February 27, 2019 for Model Number Fftr1814qw1 The freezer freezes up and the refrigerator gets warm. I can't get it into service mode by following the instructions. Would this be the board?
1 Answer Randal, the first thing that you will want to check is the defrost heater, bi-metal, and thermistor. The defrost heater should test at 35 ohms, the defrost bi-metal should have continuity in temperatures less than 110 degrees Fahrenheit, and the defrost thermistor will vary in resistance based on its temperature. If the thermistor reads 19.37 kOhms, then it is sensing 47 degrees, 24.53 kOhms for 37 degrees, and 31.33 kOhms for 27 degrees. Once it has been verified that the heater and bi-metal are testing good, and that the thermistor is reading colder than 47 degrees, then the control would be the next step. Read More...
