This temperature control thermostat regulates your freezer's internal temperature by cycling the compressor on and off based on the setpoint. Replacing a failed control restores consistent cooling and helps prevent overcooling or warm spots.

  • Senses cabinet temperature and opens/closes contacts to start or stop cooling
  • Maintains the temperature selected on the control dial
  • When faulty, symptoms include: freezer too warm or too cold, compressor runs continuously, or won't run unless the dial is adjusted
  • Helps restore stable, predictable freezer performance
What's included: 1 temperature control thermostat Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing
  • Note wire locations; transfer wires to the new control one at a time
  • Position the temperature sensor in its original location; avoid sharp bends or kinks
  • Reassemble, set the control to mid-range, and allow up to 24 hours for temperature to stabilize

Bryan, With the unit not getting past 38 degrees and the top shelf frosting but none of the others would be an indication that it would be either a leak in the sealed system or a restriction in the evaporator assembly that would be causing the issue.

Hello Ralhf, Check to see if you are getting frost on the shelving and check to make sure that they are all getting cold. If only half the shelves are getting cold or frosting then you may have a sealed system issue. Also check the run times of the unit and see if it is running constantly or if it is shutting off for periods of time. With a full frost pattern the unit should cycle off and on.

Olivia, The first check will be to the freezer door seal, Make sure there is a seal between the door gasket and the front flange of the opening. Use a thick piece of paper or dollar bill, close the door on the paper and pull the paper out from between the door and flange, there should be a slight "drag" when you remove the paper, if not that could explain the excess frost on the inside, also check and make sure the interior light goes off when the door is closed. If all these check OK and Proper, you'll need to consider a new temperature control 297216004 Thanks
