Teresa, To replace this handle, there are 2 screws at the top of the handle that you will remove. Once removed you will turn the handle sideways off the door and then push the handle toward the bottom to release the bottom screw.

Hello Bruce, The handle is held on with screws on the one end and the other end is "slid" into a slot that technicians refer to as a "keyhole" slot. Once you get it off it's easier to understand but the screw on the front of the unit that attaches to the handle is just fitted into a slot in the back of the handle.

Cindy for Model Number FRT17B3AW4

I purchased these handles with the block and screw inside, one for the freezer and one for the refrigerator. For the freezer, there are 2 screws at the top to mount the top of the handle to the freezer,(we have those) but please tell me what connects the bottom of the handle to the freezer door? Please tell me what "21A" is on the whole refrigerator diagram for these parts? Is this just a screw that should attach inside that block that is already screwed inside the bottom of the handle? I took the block and screw out of the handle and tried to attach it to the door of the freezer, but the handle does not snap to it. There is something missing here; there has to be something else that the handle attaches to in order to hold it to the freezer door, same goes for the fridge door. Any ideas? Thank you. Cindy L.

Hello Cindy! The block #73 218396700 is used on the top of the freezer door and the bottom of the refrigerator door. The screw #74 215503203 attaches the block to the handle The screw #21A 240521303 holds the block to the door. The bottom of the freezer door and the top of the refrigerator door screws in with screw #21 part number 5304515677. Those should be the only parts needed to install the handles 218428101 to the door. Hope this helps you!
