The Door Spring is an OEM part for Frigidaire dishwashers. It provides smooth opening and closing of the dishwasher door by maintaining tension and balance. This spring ensures that the door moves gently and stays in place when opened, preventing slams that could lead to damage or injury.

Symptoms of a bad Door Spring include:

  • A door that falls open abruptly or feels heavier than usual
  • Difficulty in keeping the door open
  • Noticeable wear or rust on the spring
  • Unusual noises when opening or closing the door

Causes of a bad part can include normal wear and tear over many cycles of use, corrosion from exposure to moisture, and mechanical failure due to improper alignment or installation.

This Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

Note: Also, consider checking the door spring linkage 154325201.

Jim for Model Number GEW9200LW0

Entered ge monogram model zfsb25dtbss. Changed to the one shown in appliance model block. What is correct p/n for fresh food lever assembly Spring? p/n for fresh food side stainless steel door cover #910? Pulled away approximately 3/8 inch in first 9-12 inches top right of door cover, this was caused when door caught on adjacent side wall of kitchen. now fresh food door doesn't close completely at bottom. any suggestion other than changing door lever and spring? hopefully won't have to change door cover. thank you Jim

1 Answer

Jim, Unfortunately, the only way to correct the issue of the bent piece on the door would be to replace the door panel.

Can you tell me the measurement in inches of the entire spring and then of the coil itself? The door just opens without any resistance at all and never did open properly. It just falls open to the ground, somewhat dangerous so I usually keep it completely open when not running the dishwasher. So finally I decided to try to fix it myself and thought for sure that there was a broken spring or linkage but not so. Everything is intact and the spring is hooked to the furthest hole. Not sure why the door doesn't slowly open with everything looking as it should.

My dishwasher is at least 10 years old and the door as never worked properly. It just flops open, no resistance so I usually have to have it all the way open or locked. I've had a appliance repairman look at it while repairing another appliance. He was not able to help. So I finally looked up repairing it myself. But when I pulled it out both the plastic linkage pieces and the springs are intact and on the last hole. Could it be that the spring was not the correct size that came with the dishwasher (I bought it brand new)? Can you tell me the length of the spring from hook end to hook end and also for the spring section itself? I'm not sure if buying new springs will do anything.

Annette, The spring would be approximately 7 1/2" and would most likely be the issue with the unit.

John, To install the door spring you would slide the unit out and access the sides of the unit. To get installed you will need the spring and the door linkage. The linkage goes on the hinge and then the spring hooks on it then goes to the slots on the base and would need to adjust according to door dropping.

Hello Rick! Unfortunately, we do not have the diameter of the spring 154430601 available. I do apologize for the inconvenience. According to your appliance model number, FDB635RFR6, this spring is the correct part for your dishwasher. This is a manufacturer replacement part and may differ in appearance but is a functional equivalent to the original. I would suggest replacing both door springs at the same time. Thanks!
