Tony February 21, 2020 Hi, My Frigidaire dishwasher is about 12 years old. It was operating well up until 5 months ago that the door just falls open now. The springs are in the last holes and the hinges seem to be ok. Before I didn't even have to close the the door all the way when not running and let the air in by leaving a gap but not it just falls open! I hope you could help please. Thank you
1 Answer Tony, if the model number of this appliance could be provided in a new inquiry, this will allow for the most accurate information to be presented. Read More...
Annette November 14, 2017 for Model Number PLD2850RDC2 Can you tell me the measurement in inches of the entire spring and then of the coil itself? The door just opens without any resistance at all and never did open properly. It just falls open to the ground, somewhat dangerous so I usually keep it completely open when not running the dishwasher. So finally I decided to try to fix it myself and thought for sure that there was a broken spring or linkage but not so. Everything is intact and the spring is hooked to the furthest hole. Not sure why the door doesn't slowly open with everything looking as it should.
1 Answer Annette, The overall length of the door spring 154430601 is approximately 7" and the coil itself would be approximately 4". Read More...
Annette November 13, 2017 for Model Number PLD2850RDC2 My dishwasher is at least 10 years old and the door as never worked properly. It just flops open, no resistance so I usually have to have it all the way open or locked. I've had a appliance repairman look at it while repairing another appliance. He was not able to help. So I finally looked up repairing it myself. But when I pulled it out both the plastic linkage pieces and the springs are intact and on the last hole. Could it be that the spring was not the correct size that came with the dishwasher (I bought it brand new)? Can you tell me the length of the spring from hook end to hook end and also for the spring section itself? I'm not sure if buying new springs will do anything.
1 Answer Annette, The spring would be approximately 7 1/2" and would most likely be the issue with the unit. Read More...

John A July 16, 2014 for Model Number gldb957abo How to replace spring on Frigidaire dishwasher. modal no. gldb957abo.
1 Answer John, To install the door spring you would slide the unit out and access the sides of the unit. To get installed you will need the spring and the door linkage. The linkage goes on the hinge and then the spring hooks on it then goes to the slots on the base and would need to adjust according to door dropping. Read More...
