Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Freezer Defrost Heater (Part Number: OEM6341313)

1 Answer

Bob, This does not sound like it would be a defrost issue. This sounds more likely that there may be a control board issue and the control board can be accessed from the front of the unit behind the kickplate. The control board part number would be 242115282.

Yupy, This issue sounds like it could be that the door is not sealing properly and you will want to check to make sure that it is.

Paul, We will need to have the model number of your product to be able to assist properly with your question but if you have 110 Vac to the heater but the heater is not coming on then it would be a faulty heater.

Michael for Model Number RFG237AARS/XAA

Samsung RFG237AARS/XAA freezer makes noise then I found ice was build at the bottom of the freezer section, in addition to, ice maker is empty. I clean the freezer before but the problem come back after a two months approx. Self-diagnostic check shows the LED flash or blink on F-10 and F-1. I guess the F is for freezer 10 for second digital number 8 while the 1 is for first digital number 8. Base the error codes that indicate F-fan error and F-def-Heater error with defrost part error. My question is what is part number for heater defrost in Freezer section. I know there two heater defrosts one is in the upper refrig. the other one is in the freezer at the bottom. I check online most of videos show to replace defrost heater in upper refrig section not freezer section. I am not sure it is difficult to replace or your guys have video. I think the fan motor is fine before the accumulated ice cause noise as long as to solve the defrost problem the fan should be fine. Please provide the correct part number for this model freezer heater defrost. Thank you so much!

Hello Brian, heaters are checked for ohms not continuity,37 ohms is in range for a correctly working heater.

Matt for Model Number Frigidaire Upright Freezer PLFU1778ES2

I have a Frigidaire PLFU1778ES2 Upright Deep Freezer. It works OK but during auto defrost the melted water drip down into the drain channel at the back on the bottom, it freezes right there instead of flowing down the drain. I have cleaned out the drain channel all the way to the underneath of the freezer. As I watch from day to day the dripped water freezes in the drain channel before even reaching the drain hole. I thought the freezer may be too cold, but checked with thermometer, it maintains itself around 0 F, give a take a few degrees. I had a Defrost timer laying around, I replaced it, but it did not change anything. I am thinking, is it the defrost thermostat or the defrost heater assembly, or what. The freezer is full and not easy to empty and take the cover off the evaporator coil area, unless I know what I need and I have it in hand to replace quick and come out. Please help me sort this out. Thanks Matt

Hello Matt, if the drain trough is metal check if there is any water/ice collected under it, if it is molded into the plastic liner there is no repair for this as the foam insulation under the liner has become saturated and frozen and is freezing the defrost water before it can reach the drain tube.

Daniel Cook for Model Number LFFH2067DW2

Problem: 21 hours of sub zero operation 3 hours of melting ice in a tray. I have replaced the door seal, the defrost thermostat, the temperature controller, the temperature sensor, the defrost timer and for grins the run capacitor. What can I do to adjust how long the defrost timer runs? The fan runs fine the cooling goes to -10 degrees below zero. What am I missing? I have a tray of Ice in the freezer as a test. It melts and refreezes so the sun it is not safe for food. The alarm also goes off when the ice melts. Can the time it goes into defrost be shortened?

1 Answer

Daniel, There is no way to adjust the time on the defrost timer. If you just have a pan of ice in the unit then it could start getting watery but would not completely melt in that time. It sounds likely that it could be sticking which is not unheard of but does happen sometimes with new timers. If the unit is staying off for 3 hours at one time this is likely the timer that is going to be the issue.

Greg, First check across the heater terminals for continuity, it should have a "closed" circuit at room temperature. Reset your multimeter top the lowest R setting, and recheck across the heater terminals, would expect a resistance reading of 25 ohms resistance(+/- 10%). Thanks,
