1 Answer Hello Millie. Based on the information you provided, check and make sure the flame is blue and no yellow. If it is true blue and looks good, replace the igniter, it is weak. If there is alot of yellow in the flame, replace the gas valve on the unit. Read More...
Greg July 24, 2012 for Model Number fgfl67dcc When I start oven I smell gas, but oven does not get hot. It does heat somewhat though.
1 Answer Hello Greg. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Greg June 10, 2012 for Model Number Kenmore 790.7851140 I'm pretty sure my ignitor is the problem. My range works, my broiler works, but not the oven. The ignitor does NOT glow red. Gas, however, does not seem to be flowing. The gas only flows after the ignitor warms up enough, right? How can I be positive the ignitor is the issue and needs to be replaced?
1 Answer Hello Greg, Check for 120Vac across the ignitor terminals while it is in the bake mode. If there is no voltage, you have a problem in the control 316557107 that sends the voltage to the ignitor. If voltage is there, the ignitor 5304534663 is probably open. The ignitor has to pull 3.2 to 3.6 amps of current to open the safety valve. Read More...
Eddie G. January 14, 2012 for Model Number plgfmz96ecc Seems I have the same problem as Byron. Ignitor glows, but oven won"t light. I do smell gas and if I bang around on the bottom of the oven I can get it to light up. Is there a way to test the ignitor?
1 Answer Hello Eddie! A way to verify that the ignitor is weak is to look at it, it should glow a bright white. A dull orangish color indicates that it is defective. You banging on the unit activates the ignitor. Try replacing that first. Your part number is 5304534663. Thanks! Read More...

Byron June 22, 2011 for Model Number fgf366dsd Every part of the range comes on, but the oven the preheat light will not go off. I opened up the oven body exposing the ignitor. It glows, but the oven will not get hot.
1 Answer Hello Byron. It sounds like you may have a weak ignitor 5304534663. If the ignitor is weak, the gas inside the oven will not ignite. Make sure the ignitor is bright and hot enough to ignite the gas. Hope this helps. Read More...
