The Overlay is an OEM part for Frigidaire ranges. This component is the interface layer that sits over the control panel, providing labels and markings for the various buttons and controls. It ensures that users can easily identify and operate the range settings.

You should replace the overlay if it becomes damaged or worn out. Causes of a bad overlay can include exposure to high temperatures, frequent cleaning, or general wear and tear, which can cause the labels to fade or peel off.

Symptoms of a bad overlay include:

  • Fading or illegible labels
  • Peeling or bubbling of the overlay surface
  • Difficulty in reading and using the controls accurately
  • Physical damage such as cracks or tears

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

For Frigidaire Overlay (Part Number: OEM18744939)

Mia for Model Number FGF348KCM

I recently purchased and installed a control board part # 316455410 and overlay part # 316220728. Now when I use the oven it does not beep to indicate that the oven is up to temperature. I was told that I needed overlay part # 316220729 instead. Could this be the reason it is not beeping when it reaches temp like it used to or do I have a defective control board? Also, we had an issue where we adjusted the oven temperature using the built-in feature and it somehow lost that setting along with changing to Celsius on the display.

Mia, if the control 5304518661 does not beep at all and it does not save any settings that are set in accordance with the use and care guide, then the failure would be in the main control.

Jessica, it is possible that the control may have been impacted. With the power off, the control board can be inspected for signs of burning or melting by removing the back panel and separating the control from the user panel.

Hello Connie. It is best to replace the overlay with the clock assembly. The old one usually does not peel off and stick good on the new part.

Hello. You will need to pull out the unit and disconnect the power. Then remove the back cover and remove the screws securing the board to the unit. Unpeel the old overlay off and then stick the new overlay onto the clock assembly. Make sure you have it in the correct position before sticking it.
