1 Answer Randy, the compressor running on all settings would certainly indicate the main control's relay RY7 being stuck closed. The relay can be tested with the unit unplugged. Jack S. June 09, 2016 for Model Number FAM18HS2A Hello.. I am working on a Frigidaire AC unit with heat, model number FAM18HS2A. The unit was running constantly unless unplugged.. When I pulled out the unit and examined the Main PC power board.. I found a burnt contact where the wire for the Medium fan speed connected. It had really burnt the board and the relay next to it.. So.. I thought.. OK this is the problem. I ordered and replaced the PC board with part number (AP5184988). Once the new board was installed.. I plugged the unit in, and it came on, on its own.. Random lights on the front touch panel were on, Pressing the fan speed would change the speed.. but none of the lights would change.. If I pressed the "Down Temp" button.. the AC compressor would come on, but the readout or none of the indicator lights would change.. I could get the unit to go off only if I pressed the "Timer" button. The Temp indicator numbers wouldn't change in the read out at all.. It seemed to be showing "d3" in the display. I couldn't find this error code anywhere.. Never the less, I now assumed the front control board and display are bad, so I ordered a new Front PC board. Part number (AP4433731). After installing this new control board.. I find it has the same reaction as the original. Unit comes on as soon as plugged in, Same message in the display with random display lights, and touching the "timer" button is the only thing that will shut the unit off.. Other than unplugging it. My question is... Whats left? I've replaced both PC boards, the AC compressor and fan motors both work fine, Could the Main PC board I received be defective? I've traced back over all the wiring and found no evidence of shorts, broken wires or bad connections. Thank you so much for any advice you can offer.

1 Answer Hello Elsa. You need to test the heater. If it is good, then the control board is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Jason R. January 12, 2015 for Model Number Frigidaire LRA18HMU2 On heat setting, heating unit does not go off regardless of temperature setting. It stays on even when you turn the unit off at the control panel. I even disconnected the front control panel and it stays on. I have to unplug the unit to shut it off.

John R M September 23, 2013 for Model Number LRA18HMU211 I had a power surge in our neighborhood and my window a/c unit now will only come on, light up the front panel, and then shut off. The unit itself never really comes on after it lights up all the circuits on the front panel, it just goes dark. I know that one of the PC boards has gone bad. Do you know how to tell which board is bad? There is a front PC Board that has all the lights and buttons on it and then there is the main PC board behind that one.
