The Replacement Icemaker is an OEM part for Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerators. It serves the critical function of automatically producing batches of ice cubes on demand. Note: The Icemaker Kit comes with an adaptor harness that may be needed for some applications. The harness converts a 4 pin connector to a 3 pin connector.

Causes of a malfunctioning icemaker can vary. They may stem from failed control sensors affecting conductivity and freeze times, scaled or corroded water lines, or an ice basket mold with broken fins and louvers.
Symptoms of a bad icemaker include:

  • Reduced or inconsistent ice production
  • Ice cubes getting jammed or fused together
  • Water leaks or spray inside the freezer
  • Strange sounds or mechanisms not working

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

For Frigidaire Replacement Icemaker (Part Number: OEM9481800)

Hello Albert. You do not have to disconnect power to replace the icemaker. Just be careful and know your dealing with live power. If your not comfortable with that, then you will need to disconnect the power to the unit.

Jeff, You will want to give the unit approximately 4 to 6 hours to make the first batch of ice. Could be sooner but will want to give it at least that long.

Robert for Model Number 5303918277

Good afternoon - I replaced my icemaker a few months ago and it's acting up like the one I replaced. The ice cubes are sticking to the extractor arms and the cubes it does produce are stuck together and melting together in the collection tray ( also leaking out the dispenser opening). It's an older fridge, so I though maybe it just was not freezing as well as it use to, I tried turning it toward colder, but it's still not operating correctly. Any tips? Thanks, Robert

Hello Robert. Make sure the filer is good if it has one and if so, replace the water valve on the unit.

Ned for Model Number FRS23R4CB5

Hi ! More ice maker questions. This is what I know: A) The water is still coming out of the dispenser on front of freezer door...so the water is flowing fine to the refrigerator. B) If I pour water into the ice maker it will make ice and eject it into the ice bin. So it seems that the issue is simply that the water is not flowing into the ice making tray. Is this just a matter of replacing the ice making unit or is there some other part which tells the refrigerator to send water to the ice maker? Hope that's clear:-)

Hello Ned. Make sure the fill tube is not frozen on the unit. If it is clear, then replace the water valve on the unit.

Lynn, If you open the refrigerator side of the unit, the model number will typically be on one of the walls or ceiling of the refrigerator compartment. You may also want to check down next to the crisper drawers to see if it is there.
