The Replacement Icemaker is an OEM part for Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerators. It serves the critical function of automatically producing batches of ice cubes on demand. Note: The Icemaker Kit comes with an adaptor harness that may be needed for some applications. The harness converts a 4 pin connector to a 3 pin connector.

Causes of a malfunctioning icemaker can vary. They may stem from failed control sensors affecting conductivity and freeze times, scaled or corroded water lines, or an ice basket mold with broken fins and louvers.
Symptoms of a bad icemaker include:

  • Reduced or inconsistent ice production
  • Ice cubes getting jammed or fused together
  • Water leaks or spray inside the freezer
  • Strange sounds or mechanisms not working

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

Kent for Model Number FRT18KG3CW2

Hi: I just added the IM15 icemaker kit to a Frigidaire FRT18KC3CW2 refrigerator. The icemaker works and seems to cycle properly for the first few batches of cubes. However, when the water valve cycles, the water volume/pressure is high enough that a portion of it overflows and splashes out of the fill cup and drains into the ice bucket. It still makes ice cubes, but I end up with a solid block of ice in the bucket. I originally installed a braided steel icemaker supply line and thought perhaps it was delivering too much water. I replaced that with 1/4" copper per the installation instructions but the problem persists. Any ideas?

Hello Kent. Remove the cover on the icemaker and adjust the cube size down some and see if this stops the over flow issue. If not, the pressure to the unit may be to high and you will need to reduce house hold water pressure. Sometimes turning the water shut off half way closed will help with this also.

Hello Tim. It sounds like the fill tube is frozen and will need to be thawed out on the unit.
