This compressor start device kit helps your refrigerator or freezer's compressor start reliably each cooling cycle. Replacing a weak or failed start device can restore cooling performance and stop repetitive clicking or brief humming when the compressor tries to start.

  • Powers the compressor's start winding to initiate start-up, then disengages
  • Supports consistent compressor starts to maintain proper temperatures
  • Common symptoms of failure: unit warm, compressor not running, rapid clicking from rear, humming then shuts off
  • May accompany signs like heat damage or a burnt odor at the old device
What's included: One compressor start device kit Install notes:

For Frigidaire Compressor Start Device Kit (Part Number: OEM17075490)

Hello Pam. This is a very good question. If you look at the hole where the wire goes in, one side is slotted, (small squared off slot). With the refrigerator unplugged, insert a small screwdriver into the hole with the wire on the side that the hole is slotted. There is a very small locking tab on the side of the spade connector that, when you hit it just right, will unlock the spade and it will pull easily out. This might take a few minutes, but once you get one out and you can see it, you will fully understand. I hope this helped and have a great day!

Hello Harris. The terminals have clips on them that needs to be released to remove the wires. You will need to use a small ice pick or a pick tool and press down the clips and pull the wires to release them from the starter/overload 5304491944. Hope this helps.
