Susan, With the drum not turning and you having to hold the start button for it to run, this would be an indication that the motor is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Angelo, the "best drum bearing replacement" would be to order and install the WE25X10001/WE25X10001 Rear Drum Bearing Kit. Install all the parts and liberally lubricate the new support shaft and drum support bearing with the lubricant supplied in the repair kit. Thanks,

Hi I called today about my dryer taking a long time to dry the cloths. I spoke to someone and told them the stuff I had replaced I did replace the timer too when we talked today we thought maybe I may have pulled a wire off the cycle thermostat switch but I noticed tonight that I did not,is it possible of putting the belt back on backwards and have the drum spin the wrong way and if that would cause the problem. If someone can let me know as soon as you can please because I may have to order the cycle switch if I have to when I talked to them they gave me an order number for the parts is 12008707.Thank you Bob

Bob, The dryer belt cannot be put on backward and if it was installed wrong or the motor was turning the wrong way then it would cause the belt to pop off. Have you checked the venting from where the lint filter is all the way to the outside of your home? This would be more likely the cause than anything else.

Gary, Unfortunately, we are unable to locate the belt on this unit but based on your description of the part, you may want to try the WE12X36 / WE12X36 Dryer belt, length 88”, width 1/4”, characteristics, 3 ridges, flat. Unfortunately, the part is out of stock and will need to be ordered from the manufacturer. This will add a few days to the delivery time once you place the order. Thanks

James for Model Number GE Model GTD65EBSJ2WS

Dryer operates but does not completely dry clothes, regardless of setting. Heats, runs, and completes cycle, but towels are still damp, as are jeans. Sheets will dry as will fleece items. Using timed heat will complete the drying as needed but should not have to be operated that way. Have confirmed 240 from wall and to block. Venting is clear and have inspected all components. Unit has 5 sensors - 2 are thermistors and 3 are thermostats. How can each be tested and what should OHMS levels read for each?

1 Answer

James, there is more than likely an air restriction in the ventilation that is preventing the moisture from being able to move out of the clothes. It is recommended that the dryer to duct hose, the house duct, and the blower housing of the dryer are inspected and cleared of any lint build up as this will restrict airflow and cause this symptom.
