The Burner Base is an OEM part for GE ranges and cooktops, designed to securely hold the burner and distribute gas evenly for cooking. This part serves as the foundation for the gas burner, ensuring a stable and consistent flame that can be adjusted for precise cooking temperatures.

Causes of a bad Burner Base can include corrosion, clogging from spilled foods or liquids, and general wear and tear over time. A damaged or deteriorated burner base can affect the flame's quality, leading to uneven cooking or, in some cases, posing a safety hazard.

Symptoms of a bad Burner Base include:

  • Uneven flame or poor heat distribution
  • Difficulty igniting the burner
  • A yellow or orange flame instead of blue
  • Gas leakage smell when the burner is on

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Ge Burner Base (Part Number: OEM11981733)

1 Answer

MB, You will want to make sure that the burner heads are clean. This will be the most likely cause for this issue. If this checks ok then the issue will most likely be with a partially clogged orifice.

Fritz, You need to check the burner base and cap for any debris, damage, and proper set up and installation. But, it sounds more like the orifice tube WB28K10190 and/or the gas valve WB21K10083 have a gas leak and is causing the flame to seep out and around the underside of the cooktop. Did someone try to raise the cooktop when cleaning the range ?

Jeff for Model Number GE JGBP28DET

I am missing a large burner and cap for my gas range. There seems to be 3 sizes: small, medium, and large, but your store only has one size (large). Do you guys just sell the large burner or does this model only have large burners (in which case I might have the wrong model number)? Note: the burners I do have are about 3 inches tall. Also, If the burner is missing Do I need to do anything further than just dropping in the burner over top of the drip tray and then the cap on top of the burner? Thank you!

Jeff, I am showing GE JGBP28DET* models have one large burner, one small burner, and three medium burners. The large front right burner is part number WB16T10046. The large burner cap comes in black as part number WB29K10006 or grey part number WB29K10007. You'll need to remove the screws and wiring to the burner in order to remove and replace the burner head. Thanks!

Hi Deborah. Under the front panel at approx. 3-4" in from the corners. Use a putty knife to insert and release the hold down clips. Rarely are they on the side also. Thank You.

Check and make sure no debris is on the orifice and the burner is clean. If the ignitor is not sparking then you could have a bad spark module.
