The Burner Base is an OEM part for GE ranges and cooktops, designed to securely hold the burner and distribute gas evenly for cooking. This part serves as the foundation for the gas burner, ensuring a stable and consistent flame that can be adjusted for precise cooking temperatures.

Causes of a bad Burner Base can include corrosion, clogging from spilled foods or liquids, and general wear and tear over time. A damaged or deteriorated burner base can affect the flame's quality, leading to uneven cooking or, in some cases, posing a safety hazard.

Symptoms of a bad Burner Base include:

  • Uneven flame or poor heat distribution
  • Difficulty igniting the burner
  • A yellow or orange flame instead of blue
  • Gas leakage smell when the burner is on

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

For Ge Burner Base (Part Number: OEM11981733)

Rich for Model Number xl44

Hello Appliance is a GE XL44 gas stove. The largest burner cap is model number 183D5614. This was listed on your site as WB16K10056. I ordered this part and while the top appears to be the right size, the center hole that goes into the stove is actually much smaller than the original burner part, and as such, will not sit in the stove as it needs to sit on top of the gas jet, which is larger than the whole on the 10056 part. Is there a WB16K10056 part that has a larger center hole that the one we received? Thanks Rich

Rich, unfortunately, the model provided is not showing as a valid number. If the model number could be verified from the model/serial tag and provided in a new question, this will allow the most accurate information to be presented.

William C for Model Number JGS750SEF6SS

Our large burner (not XL) has very poor flame distribution. I've read in our owner's manual that the flames in the 6 - 9 o'clock position are supposed to be smaller (who thought that was a good idea???) But when the burner is turned up on high heat, the flames in the 3 o'clock position are about 3+ times as big as the opposite side. Obviously, this makes food cook very unevenly and tend to burn on one side. Is there anything else that could be making the flames extra high on one side besides GE's poor design of this burner? I have checked for obstructions in the gas orifice and the hob and there are none. Thanks for any guidance you can share!

William, If this is the design based on what is in the owner's manual then there would be no way to change this.

Stephanie, without a model number, our best guess for the part number needed would be WB16K10062 / WB16K10062 Vision Burner Xl. Of course, the best option would be to open the storage drawer or broil compartment, you should find the production tag, with the model and serial number attached to the front frame of the range. You'll want to try and supply or verify the model number, so we can get the proper part for the model number, for SAFETY sakes. Thanks,

Stephanie, the original burner size would be recommended. If the model of your appliance could be provided in a new inquiry, this will allow for the most accurate information to be presented.

Glenn, Depending on brand and model, each burner usually has it's own, separate ignitor. A model number and a description of the problem, would make it easier to assist you. Thanks,

Bob, there are not any smaller burners listed for your appliance. We would not be able to recommend changing the burner head to a smaller one. For smaller pans, a smaller flame setting, from low to high, on the valve should be used. This model uses a dual flame stacked burner, so the lower flame, which is a simmer flame for temperatures of 140 degrees, will always be on. The upper flame is adjusted for cooking needs at the burner control.

Fred for Model Number JGS750SEF4$$

Although medium and small size pots are usually best on the rear burners it is often preferable - particularly for people of shorter stature - to use the front burners for medium and of course larger pots and frypans. The problem is that the large burners don't have flame in the center area of the burner which means that constant stirring is needed for even heating. So, are there alternate burner tops which have a flame pattern which includes flame across the top. Thanking you, Fred

1 Answer

Fred, Unfortunately there would not be any alternate burner tops that would allow a different flame pattern.

Darlene, you would have to replace the burner head, cap, orifice holder. Make sure the tubing underneath will connect properly. Good Luck

Tom, you should be able to remove and clean the holes on the burner. You always want a good blue flame with very little yellow showing.
