The LED Cover is an OEM part cfor GE refrigerators. It is responsible for protecting and diffusing the light from the LED bulbs inside the refrigerator. It helps create a well-lit interior, allowing you to easily see and locate your food and beverages.

A bad LED cover can be caused by accidental damage or regular wear and tear. If the cover becomes cracked, discolored, or damaged in any way, it can affect the quality and distribution of light inside the refrigerator.

Symptoms of a bad LED cover include:

  • Dim or uneven lighting inside the refrigerator.
  • Flickering or intermittent illumination.
  • Dark spots in certain areas of the refrigerator.
  • Visible cracks or damage to the cover.

This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Questions & Answers

For Ge Refrigerator Led Cover (Part Number: OEM16939134)

Joanne, this is going to indicate an LED light WR55X11132 is likely shorted. If a 2" piece of wire with 1/4" of each end bare is used, the LEDs can be checked to identify which one would be the issue. With the refrigerator door switches taped down, the bottom left LED can be removed and the wire plugged into the wire harness the light was removed from. With that done, the tape can be lifted from one door switch. If the lights turn on normally, the LED that was removed has failed. If the lights continue to flicker, the door switch would need to be taped down the jumper wire removed, LED placed back in, and this process can be repeated for each LED. If this process does not cause the LEDs to work normally when one of them have been removed and bypassed, the main control WR55X46805 could be the cause of failure.

Brian, You should just need to replace the one LED that has failed and this should correct the rest of the LEDS dimness.

Hello Brandon, the two symptoms occurring at the same time is odd as they are not typically related. Suggest you check the wire harness going from the cabinet to the left fresh food door at the top, a shorted wire there may explain this. The lights and fresh food cooling are controlled by the main rear control board, but it also communicates with the circuit boards in the left fresh food door.
