This sump cover sits over the dishwasher's pump inlet, acting as a protective guard. It helps keep debris out of the pump, maintains proper water circulation, and protects internal components for consistent cleaning performance. What it does:

  • Covers the pump/sump intake to screen larger food particles
  • Helps prevent debris from entering the wash pump
  • Aids proper water flow to support spray pressure and cleaning
  • Common symptoms of a failed cover include poor cleaning, unusual pump noise, and visible damage or warping
What's included:
  • 1 sump cover
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and water supply before servicing; allow the unit to cool
  • Remove the lower rack and spray arm or access parts as needed to reach the sump
  • Release retaining screws or tabs; note the cover's orientation for reassembly
  • Seat the new cover fully and secure it; hand-spin the spray arm and run a short test cycle to check operation

Hello Nick. Hold the spray arm from turning and turn the tower nut clockwise because it has left hand threads. Remove the nut tower then lift out power tower assembly. Unscrew and remove ¼" hex screw from center of the wash arm. Remove spray arm. Unscrew spray arm hub. The sump cover WD12X417 is held down by 2 long screws. The sump cap pulls up and out of the tub after the cover is removed. Next disconnect rear calrod support and remove the filter screen assembly. Unscrew plunger from collection chamber. Remove hoses to collection chamber. Unscrew 4 5/16 screws that hold the collection chamber WD22X10024 to the tub. Hope this helps.
