Dan January 30, 2019 for Model Number wsm2700hbwww Hi. I have a stacked washer and dryer. The washer does not begin to agitate after filling with water. I usually hear the motor start, but it doesn't agitate. On a couple of occasions I did not hear the motor start. If I put it on spin cycle it does drain and spin. I took out agitator to inspect and do not see any obvious stripping or damage. Any idea what part it could be? I notice the drive block is often bought with an agitator assembly. Any way to check if the drive block is damaged?
1 Answer Dan, you could be looking at a timer not sending voltage to the motor to have it cause agitation, there may be a capacitor issue, or there may be a motor issue. With the power disconnected, you can test the timer by opening up the control, setting the timer to the failed position, and testing from connection pin 11 to pin 12 and pin 14 to pin 21. You will want to test these for continuity. One of those connection pairs should have continuity based on location of timer. If there is no continuity, then you have a timer failure [WH12X10164]. If continuity is found, then you may be looking at the motor or capacitor. To check if the drive block is damaged, you can look for how snug it is, look for stripped teeth, and if the drive block rotates independently of the transmission. Read More...
Herbert L January 22, 2016 for Model Number GE WSM2780WAWWW During wash cycle, Agitator does not move thought the motor begins to spin. Washer drains just fine. Would replacing the drive block or agitator fix this issue? When attached agitator can be turned in both directions, so i'm not sure of problem.
1 Answer Herbert, This issue would most likely be the agitator that is stripped out but you will want to check the drive block on the unit to make sure that it is not damaged. Read More...

Larry March 18, 2014 for Model Number WSM2700WAWWW How does the drive block grip the transmission shaft at the top to cause the agitator to spin? Right now the agitator just spins freely and isn't driven by the shaft, however the agitator is splined to the drive block securely. Will replacing the drive block solve the problem?
