The Dryer Front Bearing Drum Slide (White, 2-Pack) is an OEM replacement part for GE dryers. These slides are located on the front panel of the dryer and work to support the drum as it rotates. The white slides are designed to reduce friction between the drum and the panel, ensuring smooth operation and helping to prolong the life of the appliance.

Over time, these slides can wear out due to constant movement, heat, and friction. When worn or damaged, the drum may not rotate as intended, leading to noise and reduced efficiency.

Symptoms of bad dryer front bearing drum slides include:

  • Squeaking or grinding noises during operation
  • The drum appearing loose or sagging at the front
  • Clothes not drying evenly or taking longer to dry
  • Visible wear or thinning on the existing drum slides

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

For Ge Dryer Front Bearing Drum Slide White 2-Pack (Part Number: OEM21653181)

Sandy, In most cases the rear bearing will be what is causing the squeaky/squealing noise. You would certainly want to check the drum slides to make sure that they are not worn out and would not hurt to replace them at the same time. You will also want to check the idler pulley to make sure that the idler pulley is not causing the noise.

I am looking at a used ge dryer that is about three years old. The owner was selling it but then found out that his wife said she thought the dryer might have snagged a few of her blouses before they replaced it. He is now not comfortable selling it but will give it to me. It looks in excellent condition otherwise. I was thinking that if this was an easy repair, maybe I could get the parts and repair and add years to the life of a free dryer. Do you know what might cause a dryer like this to snag clothes?

Dorcas, First, I would make sure that it is the dryer that is snagging clothes and not the washer. If the dryer is the problem, look in the drum area at the baffles, the front glides that the drum rides on and see if there is anything rough that could snag clothes as it is tumbling.

Paul, Unless there was extensive damage, you shouldn't need the WE3M26 Top Bearing, but you will need all four(4) drum slides, and they are different, the WE03X37318 Drum Slide(white) (2 req.) are installed on the outer or side of the top bearing. The WE03X37317 Drum Slide(gray) (2 req.) are installed at the "top" of the top bearing(approximately 11 and 1 o'clock positions) The gray slides are made of a different material, designed to accept the weight and tension produced by the clothes in the drum.
