Manufacturer Part Number: WE18X26

The Lint Filter is an OEM part for GE dryers. It is strategically placed in the dryer to capture lint and debris from clothes during the drying process, helping to prevent these materials from clogging the dryer vent or damaging the internal components.

Symptoms of a bad Lint Filter include:

  • Torn or damaged filter mesh, allowing lint to pass through and accumulate in the vent.
  • Excessive lint buildup around the dryer frame, indicating the filter is not capturing properly.
  • Reduced drying efficiency, with clothes still damp after a cycle, suggesting a clogged filter or airflow issue.

Causes of a bad lint filter can include normal wear and tear from regular use, accidental damage from sharp objects or heavy laundry items, or improper maintenance, such as not cleaning the filter regularly.

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello Jessi, The dryer lint filter does not have a cover. If there is lint everywhere inside the dryer it is an indication of a restricted exhaust duct from the back of the dryer to outside. If there is a restriction in this ducting it will cause the heat, lint, and moisture to blow past the drum seals into the cabinet where it is recirculated back across the clothes. This will also extend the dry time since the moisture is recirculated back through the clothes.

Yolanda, For a proper diagnosis, we would need you to please verify the model number from the units' I.D. tag since it will not come up for us as a valid model number. This model # comes up as a warming drawer, sorry.
