This is a fuse that is used on microwaves. This fuse shuts off the microwave if there happens to be a power surge. This helps prevent damage to the microwave unit and also prevents fires from being started from the power surge. Be sure to unplug the microwave from its power source prior to attempting the replacement of the fuse. The process to replace the fuse is relatively easy and can be completed in about 30 to 60 minutes time.A new fuse may be needed if the microwave will no longer turn on. If the fuse has been blown, it will show scorch marks, and the filament inside will be melted. This fuse is a genuine General Electric part and is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is sold individually. This specific fuse is compatible with microwaves that are manufactured by the General Electric brand.

For Ge Fuse (Part Number: OEM14941287)

Potentialbuyer for Model Number JVM3160RF2SS

My microwave abruptly began tripping its circuit breaker a few nights ago. The lights on the display went out along with the entire microwave. Once breaker was flipped back on, the display came back on, we were able to reset the clock and lights came back on inside once door was opened. We verified that the outlet is working properly so we selected 1-min option under express cook. Within one second, the breaker tripped again. We tried same sequence twice more with same results. We used a heavy-duty exterior extension cord to plug it into a nearby GFCI. Fuse labeled WB27X11138 blew completely and microwave will not power on. All three door switches were checked for continuity, the center one WB24X10205 beeped without its button first being pressed. Does this suggest that WB24X10205 is faulty and requires replacement? Additionally, please confirm specs for fuse WB27X11138...it is 20A but what is the max voltage 125V or 250V and is it slow blow or fast acting? Last, how can the 70V range thermostat WB27X11213 be tested - must it first be heated (while removed from the microwave) to induce a close?

PotentialBuyer, the middle door switch WB24X10205 should have continuity when it is not pressed and it should not have continuity when it is pressed. If the meter beeps when it is pressed in, the middle switch has failed and would need to be replaced.

Jeff F for Model Number JVM3160RF2SS

The oven ran well for years, and then one time it tripped the fuse. Fuse was replaced with another 20A microwave fuse. After that it tripped more frequently. I did replace the top switch, thinking that may have been the culprit (and based on some continuity checks). But then I recently noticed something. Some 20A microwave fuses are fast acting and some are slow acting. For this particular GE microwave oven, is the 20A fuse supposed to be a quick acting or slow acting (I did some research, and am familiar with what the difference is).

Herb, This issue will most likely be a faulty door switch on the unit. You will want to test the door switches for continuity and if they are bad replace the switches.

Ray, the NC terminal switch WB24X10205 would need to be tested for continuity while the switch is activated. During the activated state, it should not have continuity. If it does, it would need to be replaced as this will cause the symptoms described. If it tests properly, the next step would be to test the wires and components for a short to ground as well as inspecting the main control WB27X11215 for any damaged solder connections.

RL, the door switches would need to be tested for continuity to ensure that they are operating properly. However, the model provided is showing as a partial model number. If the full model number could be provided in a new inquiry, this will allow for the most accurate information to be presented.

Nicholas, based on the information provided, the most likely issue is that there is a short in the main control board WB27X27171. As the main control operates by controlling the neutral circuit, and only the fan and light components are causing this aside from turning the entire unit on, this lets us know that the issue would be on the neutral side. With the microwave unplugged, you may want to inspect for any bare or broken wires, as well as any brown coloration on the control, as well as test the control for any closed relays on the control board by testing for continuity. The only relay that should be closed on the control is the HI fan relay from the neutral to the hood thermostat WB27X11213 located behind the control on the right hand side of the base. This thermostat should read as open at room temperature.
