For Ge Refrigerator Ice Dispenser Arm Kit (Part Number: OEM13308741)

Gary for Model Number GSS23QSTASS

Hello, For lack of a better term, the paddle, the plastic piece that one would press a glass up against in order to get ice or water from the dispenser snapped. I ordered part GEH WR49X10228 based on my refrigerator's model number. I do understand that GE re-designs parts every once and a while and this was confirmed during a "live chat" I had with a customer service agent on Monday November 11th. She informed me that I would have to replace all the parts. The "How To" video connected to this page for this part is for a Whirlpool Refrigerator, not a GE but the customer service agent wrote me that it would be a similar experience. It was not all that similar but I eventually got the old housing out and the new piece installed. Nadene Freeman helped me through this over the phone. Everything works, the light comes on, the ice (crushed and cubed) and water dispense. The problem is that the panel, the one piece unit that has the temperature display, thermostat, ice and water buttons does not stay on. There are 2 nubs(?) on the bottom of the new piece that match up with 2 holes on the bottom of the panel. The top part of the new piece has what appears to be a piece that holds the panel in place. Once I line up the bottom so that nubs are in the holes, I am able to push into place the panel, it does not slide from side to side and it feels locked in. It is when I attempt to put the (again - for lack of better term) frame, the black rectangular piece of plastic that goes around the dispenser panel and the area underneath, back on that I run into problems. The panel basically pops out as I try to connect the frame back to the refrigerator door. I have tried starting the snap back in place process from the sides, the top and the bottom all with the same result. I have even tried to reattach the panel after the frame was back on but to no avail. The panel feels attached but once I try to reattach the frame it pops out. I am not sure if this makes a difference to you but the side on my right if I am facing the refrigerator door is the side that pops out first. The panel was erroneously replaced in the summer of 2012. However it has stayed attached since then. When the panel was replaced, all the original parts were in place. I am at a loss as to how to get the panel to stay on. It seems that the frame does not help to hold the panel in place. Your advise and council will be most appreciated. Thanks, Gary

Hello Gary. The board does snap into place. Make sure the tabs are not broken on the panel board.

Hello Jerry. No, Here's what we have for a repair to the dispenser on your style refrigerator " Dispenser Assembly The dispenser assembly consists of the interface, display board, dispenser shield, and duct door functioning parts. The dispenser interface can be removed to access the display board and the dispenser shield mounting screws. The interface is held in place by 4 tabs that hold it to the dispenser recess. To remove the interface, it is necessary to grasp the bottom lip of the interface on either side and gently pull it towards you. There are 3 wire harnesses connected to the display board. Note: The interface and display board are replaced as a complete assembly. When assembling, insert top tabs into the top of dispenser recess first, then snap the bottom into place. The dispenser shield can be removed to access the cradle switch, duct door, duct door solenoid, and dispenser LED lights. The dispenser shield is attached to the dispenser recess with 4 Phillipshead screws. Note: The dispenser LED lights cannot be replaced individually. The dispenser shield and LED lights are replaced as an assembly. Check model number for correct assembly." Everything else, is pretty much "self explanatory"
