Questions & Answers

For Ge Refrigerator Main Control Board (Part Number: OEM11872752)

1 Answer

Dean, Yes the control board would most likely be the cause for the lights in the refrigerator to not work. We do not show any information about this control board being under any type of rework or recall from the manufacturer.

Hello Aaron, GE recommends WR49X10152 for the model provided. The fan motor is WR60X10185. If there is no frost build-up on the back wall of the freezer, nothing else need be checked.

Hello Olivier. The only way to check the compressor for loss of power is to test using a multi-meter. It does sound like the board may be the problem.

1 Answer

Hello Olivier. You will need to check and see if the compressor is losing the power to it. If so, then it sounds like the main control board could be the issue. If the power continues, but the compressor stops, then you will need to replace the compressor on the unit.

Mike, With the evaporator coils in the Refrigerator section freezing up then this would most likely be caused by a faulty main control board since the thermistor has already been replaced for the refrigerator evaporator.

Matt S. for Model Number PSS26PSTA SS GE

I have a GE Profile, PSS26PSTASS, non Inverter model, I think, I don't see one in the usual place. Three years ago I replaced the motherboard due to fluctuating temperatures on both sides. Now I'm having problems with the temperature fluctuating on the freezer side. It won't get cold enough, or gets too cold, I'm getting a lot of condensation on the inside of the refrigerator, on the wall shared with the freezer, and the evaporator is iced over, heavier on the lower half. At first I thought the heater might be bad, so I checked continuity, which is ok, but I don't know if it actually comes on. I would guess not, due to all the ice. Does this sound like another motherboard issue, thermostat, temperature sensors or heater? Thank you

1 Answer

Hello Matt, The most common failure on this design unit is the defrost heater. The next most common failure is the evaporator fan motor. The condensation is an indication of an air leak. You should check for 120Vac on both sides of the defrost thermostat when the unit is in the defrost cycle to ensure the defrost thermostat is good. This has to be done while the thermostat is below 20°F.

Hello Mike. Check the flap in the door and make sure it is closing. If not, the solenoid WR62X10055 may be bad and need to be replaced on the unit.

J.Moore for Model Number PSF26PGTABB

I replaced my main board yesterday due to temperature fluctuation, condensation in fresh food side, and freezer getting stuck in defrost cycle (had same problem 4yrs ago). Next day I see no improvement. I then check coils in freezer compartment and find no ice, put everything back together and freezer temp is zero after 45mins of being open and off. After being on for several hrs it still shows zero even though it is colder than that inside. Fresh food display changes and seems normal. What am I missing?

1 Answer

J. Moore, If the temperature is getting too cold in the freezer and is normal in the refrigerator compartment then this would most likely be caused by a faulty thermistor. Test the thermistor resistance and the values should be as follows. At 0 degrees should be 42.2k ohms, at 36 degrees should be 14.4k ohms and at 77 degrees should be 5K ohms. The unit sticking in defrost could also be that the defrost thermistor is faulty.

Jeremy G for Model Number PSS26PSTBSS

Owned this fridge for about 8 years now. In 8 years, we have replaced the main board on two different occasions. The boards seem to last about 3 or so years. In any event, starting to have issues again similar to previous times. Fridge and freezer temps constantly in a state of fluctuation. Fridge temp will go up to maybe 41 or 42, then back down to 36. Then back up again and so on. Freezer will go up to 8 or 9, then back down to 0 (or even negative.) The unit seems to be doing this every 12 hours or so. Previously, the unit would hold steady at 0 and 36, with the occasional fluctuation when the unit entered defrost. This is similar to main board-related issues that I've previously had. Do you concur that this may be another main board issue, or is there something else to consider?

1 Answer

Jeremy, This does sound like it would be caused by the main control board but you will want to test the thermistors to make sure that they are not bad. The thermistor part number is WR55X10025 and will work for any of the thermistors in the unit. This would be the first place to start and if the thermistors check ok then replace the main board.

John, The main control board replacement is a easy replacement to make, You would just pull out the unit from the wall and there will be a cover that is covering the control board. Remove this cover and disconnect one group of wires at a time and switch them to the new board. Each connector will only fit one spot.
