Jackie July 10, 2017 We removed the door on our GE range and the springs fell off. Now we have put them back on, but the door is too tight in the fully open position (won't lie flat) and too loose in the STOP position (wants to fall open). Since the springs fell off, we don't know which position on the bar or which position on the aluminum "interface" to use. How can we tell what to do?
1 Answer Jackie, First check the rollers and arms of the hinge assembly for excess wear and tear, worn out roller screws and bearings, etc. Then check to see that the bottom of the door isn't "dragging" or rubbing on the oven cavity opening, or door gasket. If all's OK, when you install the spring to the frame, the farther away from the front frame the more tension on the spring and door is applied. On the hinge arm "interface" the "middle" opening is usually enough tension to operate the door and hinges properly. Read More...

Sharon June 12, 2014 for Model Number GE JGSP33WEVIWW I have to replace the springs on my oven door because they both snapped off at the bottom hooks. But I can't figure out where the bottom hook attaches to the oven. The spring was still attached to the door hing so that half is easy. I took out the drawer to locate the hinges but I cant find the other hole to hook the spring end into. Thanks for the help
1 Answer Sharon, At the base of the range there will be a tab with a hole in it where the other end of the spring will go to. Read More...
Barbara January 24, 2014 for Model Number JGSP30GER38G My oven door will not open completly and I know I must replace the two hinges but do I also need to replace the spring and if so how do I replace it.
1 Answer Barbara, If you are replacing the hinges of the unit then it would be a good idea to replace the springs as well. To change out the hinges you will need to remove the side panels of the unit. To do this you will start by removing the main top, the door and the drawer at the bottom. To remove the main top you will remove 2 to 3 screws in the door opening at the top and then lift the top off. To remove the door you will open at a 45 degree angle and lift it off the hinges. Once this is done and with the unit pulled out, you will remove the rear cover of the unit and take the screws out that hold the side panel in place. There will also be screws at the top that will need to be removed and a trim piece in the front. Once this is removed you will be able to remove the side panel and access the hinges. Read More...

Kenneith H April 14, 2012 for Model Number GE Slide in Range Mod no. JGSP40AET1AA I am installing an oven door hinge, left side. When I took the old hinge out of the range, the oven door spring spring came with it. My question is - how/where do I attach the "other" end of the spring. Do I have to remove any panels on the range? Thanks in advance for your help.
1 Answer Kenneth, You may have to remove the side panel. But try removing the storage drawer, first. There should be holes or a clip, to attach the end of the spring to the lower frame assembly. The hardest part will be attaching the spring to the openings in the hinge arm WB14X103, But it is doable. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
