The Drain Pump Assembly is an OEM part for GE dishwashers. This component is responsible for removing water from the dishwasher during the drain cycle, ensuring that your dishes are cleaned and rinsed effectively. The pump works by expelling the used water through the drain hose and into the household plumbing.

Common causes of a bad drain pump assembly include blockages from debris, wear and tear from regular use, or electrical issues that prevent the pump from operating correctly.

Symptoms of a bad Drain Pump Assembly include:

  • Dishwasher not draining properly
  • Standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher
  • Unusual noises during the drain cycle
  • Dishwasher stopping mid-cycle with a full tub of water

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello J., If there are no clogged screens and nothing is wrong with the pump impeller, you will need to check the water fill level. If the unit is not filling with enough water it will give the same symptom as a clogged screen so the water valve WD15X10003 would need to be replaced.

Mike, This issue would most likely be either the drain hose leaking or the disposal that may be damaged. It would be more likely an issue of the hose.

John for Model Number PDW7380N20SS

My dishwasher no longer drains. It will run through a cycle but at the end there is standing water in the bottom of the unit. I have taken it apart from the inside to clean out all of the filters and the sump basket, etc., but am still having the same problem. Also, when I run the unit on a quick rinse cycle, a few minutes in (during what I expect is the drain cycle) there is a low humming noise which I am thinking might be the drain pump trying to work. Does this sound like it might be the problem? I am wondering if I just need to replace the drain pump unit. Thank you.

Hello John. Check and see if there is power to the pump and the hoses are not clogged. If so, then you will need to replace the drain pump on the unit.

Elizabeth, To replace the drain pump on your unit, you will need to remove the kickplate of the unit. It may be possible to remove the drain pump without taking the unit out from installation but would be best to pull the dishwasher out and lay on its back and remove the pump and install the new one.

Hello Jacob. It sounds like you have something binding in the motor assembly. You will need to take back apart and check everything.

Greg, it is possible the pump itself is bad, sometimes the impeller will slip on the shaft. Before you replace it you probably should check for any obstructions in the hoses going to and from the pump. Also make sure there isn't anything in the pump itself. These small electric pumps are notorius for clogging with lint or sometimes the backing off of certain rugs, etc.
