The GE pump is an OEM replacement part responsible for removing wastewater from the washing machine during the drain cycle. It pumps out the soiled water from the washer's tub, ensuring that it is expelled through the drain hose and into the plumbing system or utility sink. The pump consists of an electric motor and an impeller that move the water effectively.

Causes of a bad pump can include clogging from debris or lint, wear and tear from regular use, or damage to the pump impeller or motor. Exposure to harsh chemicals or overloading the washer can also contribute to pump failure.

Symptoms of a bad pump include:

  • Water not draining from the washer
  • Unusual noises such as humming or grinding during the drain cycle
  • Error codes related to drainage issues
  • Water leaking from the bottom of the washer

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

If there is 120 Vac to the drain pump and there are no clogs but the unit is not draining then the drain pump would be faulty.
